Yet

Yet

Yet.

The most significant step on the road to hope starts with the word, “yet.”

I was in despair, yet…

All was darkness, yet…

I was forsaken, yet…

Many are the afflictions, yet…

“Yet” is found throughout the Bible. Without it, I would have never taken that first step towards hope.

Hope is destroyed when ‘the other foot’ drops again and again until you finally just step out of the way rather than taking the chance on getting crushed again. Hope is destroyed when he promises, “It will never happen again,” only to feel the sting on your cheek or see the bruises on your arms so soon after the promise. Hope is destroyed when someone you love is addicted to drugs and she swears, “I’ll never touch that stuff again,” and after one month being clean she comes home late, and high.

My hope was destroyed, until I found the God who created hope. In desperation, I reached up and He was waiting. He was there.

“Yet,” is the inspiration for this blog. Lamentations 3:21 is the driving force.

“Yet I call this to mind and therefore I have hope…”

Today, I do have hope.

Today, let’s take a breath and wait for God’s “yet” together.
